CloudfreeIT teams enter the Keighley & District table tennis winter league

With the Keighley Table Tennis and Recreation Centre being just across the stairwell from CloudfreeIT’s HQ in Keighley Business Centre we couldn’t help but be involved in one of the most entertaining and fun sports for all ages.

After fielding just one team last year, CloudfreeIT now has two teams competing in Division 4 of the Winter League, which started at the end of September and runs through to March 2014.

So far Cloudfree ‘A’, comprising Gareth Harrison, Matthew Woollard and Sam Stevenson, is doing rather well, currently at 4th place in the division with 2 matches in hand.

This year is Cloudfree ‘B’ team’s first entry into a league, with only one member of the team, Nick Hume, having participated last year. The other members of the team (Michelle Thompson, Sean Daniels and Evan Tye) are all absolute beginners, but despite being bottom of division 4, have gained an excellent reputation for being the most ‘fun’ team to play. They take whatever each team throws at them in good spirit and manage to laugh even when they get ‘nilled’. Occasionally they take their opponents (and themselves) by surprise too.

Table tennis is a sport genuinely for people of any ability and any age and the growth of the Keighley & District League reflects this.

If you’d like to have fun and keep fit too the Keighley Table Tennis & Recreation Centre is the place to come!

There’s over 50s sessions several times per week during the day and Haworth Hawks Juniors run training sessions for kids on evenings and weekends. Adult training sessions are held at various times too.

And the best thing is that bad weather doesn’t stop play!
