When it comes to messaging, privacy really matters. WhatsApp’s Chat Lock feature gives you an easy way to keep sensitive conversations safe, adding a second layer of security on top of the app itself. Whether you’re discussing confidential business matters, or simply keeping personal chats away from prying eyes, use WhatsApp Chat Lock for extra security, so only you can access them.

Enabling Chat Lock is straightforward
On iOS:
- On the Chats screen, tap and hold the chat you want to protect, so the drop down menu appears.
- Select Lock Chat, then Continue.
On Android:
- Open the chat you want to lock by tapping and holding on it.
- Tap the three dots (?) in the top-right corner.
- Select “Lock Chat” to move the conversation into a hidden, password-protected folder.
Locked chats are no longer visible in your main list. Instead, they’re stored in a secure area that can only be opened using your device’s authentication method — such as fingerprint, face recognition, passcode — or by entering a secret code you set up in WhatsApp.
What’s the benefit?
Even if someone borrows your phone, your most private conversations stay private. For businesses, it’s especially useful for protecting client information, internal discussions, or sensitive negotiations.
? Pro tip: Combine Chat Lock with regular app updates and two-step verification to give your WhatsApp account the strongest possible defence.
