Do you need to check a voice note during a meeting, or would you just prefer reading over listening? Good News! You can now turn WhatsApp voice messages into text using transcription in just a few taps.

How to:
- Go to Settings > Chats > Voice message transcripts in WhatsApp.
- Select Manually
- Choose your preferred language (e.g. English (United Kingdom)).
- Then, in any chat, tap and hold the voice message.
- Select Transcribe when the option appears.
What it’s for:
Turning WhatsApp voice messages into text using transcription is ideal for catching up on messages when you can’t play audio out loud — or for double-checking long or unclear voice notes.
Pro?Tip:
Transcription works offline and on-device for privacy — but always scan the text for errors before forwarding or quoting, otherwise you could end up with some very ‘interesting’ and possibly unexpected responses!
